Lori Brizee MS, RDN, LD, CDCES

I have been an RDN for 38 years focusing on pediatric populations for the majority of that time. I became a Certified Diabetes Educator (now called Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) in 2015.

I got my bachelor of science degree in Dietetics from University of California in 1980, and my master of science degree in Nutritional Sciences at University of Washington in 1983. While working on my master’s, I did a fellowship in pediatric nutrition at the UW Center on Human Development and Disability, focusing on children with special healthcare needs.

I started my career working in the Seattle International District Community Health Center’s WIC program. I then went to work at Seattle Children’s Hospital from 1986 to 2006, working with children with a variety of health concerns, including feeding problems associated with chronic health issues (e.g., renal diseases, craniofacial anomalies).

I left Seattle and moved to Bend, OR in 2006 and started Central Oregon Nutrition Consultants, working with individuals of all ages for the next 12 years. I closed that business in 2018.

In 2019, I went back to working in pediatrics. I work out of a small pediatric practice, seeing children from multiple pediatric practices as well as pregnant women from Ob practices in Central Oregon.

I have a special interest in infants and young children with feeding problems and older children with “picky” and ARFID.

I also work with children who are referred for high body weight concerns, taking a HAES approach.

I love helping families learn how to move from stressed, dysfunctional eating/feeding to enjoyable eating experiences.
