TRANSforming Eating Disorder Recovery: Education, Empowerment, and Advocacy

June 15, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Fighting Eating Disorders in Underrepresented Populations (FEDUP) is critical at this juncture in the eating disorder treatment field. This webinar will focus on developing necessary competencies for treating transgender and intersex people with eating disorders. The following topics will be explored as they relate to eating disorders in trans & intersex people: disability, bodily autonomy, medical considerations, family support, incarceration, houselessness, poverty, and race. This is a judgment-free space, and we welcome attendees to bring any questions.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will:

  1. Increase gender literacy and understanding of the intersections between EDs, gender identity/expression, and multiple marginalizations.
  2. Learn how to better serve the needs of trans communities through modifying their therapeutic approaches.
  3. Learn strategies for creating an accessible and inclusive treatment environment.
