Empowering Caregivers in Family-Based Treatment: The Key Role of Dietitians and Digital Tools

This presentation offers an introductory overview of the role of dietitians in the implementation of Family Based Treatment (FBT), with a focus on strategies to effectively involve families in the treatment process. We will also explore how digital tools can help address common challenges that arise for families between sessions, and how caregiver-monitored meal data may be harnessed by dietitians to guide treatment.
The first 60 minutes will be an educational presentation, then join us for an additional 30 minutes to see how providers can use the Recovery Record digital tool in real-time for your practice and to empower caregivers and clients.

Allison Chase, PhD, CEDS-C Bio:
Dr. Allison K. Chase is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience specializing in child and adolescent mental health, eating disorders, and family-based therapies. She is recognized for her advanced expertise in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and commitment to empowering parents and caregivers in the healing process. Dr. Chase earned her PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, followed by a clinical residency at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, in the Departments of Psychology and Pediatrics.
Her clinical work spans all levels of care, from outpatient to inpatient treatment. She began her career as the founder and principal of AK Chase and Associates, a thriving group practice in Austin, Texas. Since 2014, she has held key leadership roles, including Executive Director and Senior Clinical Advisor at Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center. Currently, she serves as the Clinical Project Lead for the innovative Recovery Record Family App at Bright Therapeutics, where she has been instrumental in developing this cutting-edge tool that supports families and clinicians in the treatment of eating disorders.
Dr. Chase is also passionate about the professional development of clinicians, offering workshops, supervision, and continuing education across the U.S. She is an Adjunct Faculty Member at The University of Texas at Austin and actively involved in international professional associations, underscoring her commitment to advancing the field of mental health. As a recognized media expert, Dr. Chase frequently shares her insights on mental health and eating disorders in online, print, and television media, contributing to public awareness and education on these critical topics.
