We are announcing a new group for Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPoC) Professionals provided at no cost to members of EDRD Pro, which will be offered monthly. Below please find a description of the group and biography for Angela Goens who will be facilitating the space.
**Registration is required in order for you to receive the Zoom link to join the meeting. See registration link below**
The first group is taking place this Friday, March 18th (USA) at 10 AM Pacific / 12 Central / 1 PM Eastern
Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPoC) Professionals Group
The intention of our time together will be to fill the space with whatever feels appropriate and seems relevant to those participating. Our time together will function a lot like a casual Affinity group.
Who is it for: All current EDRD Pro members who identify as Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Color are encouraged to participate.
This group will not be highly structured; rather, it will flow in the direction the attendees desire to meet their needs in the moment. This will be a safe space allowing time for connection, support, and conversations that center BIPoC life experiences, as an eating disorder and mental health professional.
Recurring day and time:
Designated space will be held virtually for this group on the 3rd Friday of the month at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern with Angela Goens, MS, RDN, LD.
As a Registered and Licensed Dietitian for nearly two decades, Angela has dedicated her entire career to the mental health field. She has experience working in various roles at all levels of intensive programming and outpatient services for eating disorders, chemical dependency, depression, and anxiety. Working in various levels of eating disorder treatment centers has given Angela great exposure to the entire continuum of care. Experience includes program development, facilitating support groups, motivational interviewing, individual counseling, mentoring, meal support, conducting training and education, as well as providing supervision.
She currently owns a private practice offering individual nutrition counseling, supervision, and consulting. Angela is also the current Director of Education and Development at EDRD Pro.
All humans can be affected by disordered behaviors with food as a way to cope and navigate life stressors. It is an aspiration for Angela in the nutrition field to challenge the stigma of eating disorders for non-stereotypical Black and Brown bodied individuals. She desires to be a part of creating awareness and taking an active role in offering education, support, and treatment for people of color, whose experiences have been dismissed or overlooked.
Our first three groups will be as follows:
- Friday, March 18th at 10:00 am PST / 1:00 pm EST
- Friday, April 15th at 10:00 am PST / 1:00 pm EST
- Friday, May 20th, at10:00 am PST / 1:00 pm EST
