Expedition Nutrition – Nicole Speeney, MS RDN LDN

Description

Nicole was born and raised in Pennsylvania and moved down to North Carolina in 2020 after graduating from Colgate University with a degree in Psychological Sciences. Nicole also holds her Master’s Degree in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Nicole understands that navigating wellness in a world that praises toxic diet culture, overcomplicates everything, and spreads insane amounts of misinformation is TOUGH. So, she aspires to help others understand that nutrition does not have to be complicated. Nicole takes a non-diet approach and implements psychology-based mindset practices rooted in Intuitive Eating principles and body image work, nutrition education, and the science behind ditching diet culture. Nicole helps her clients push back on perfectionism and black-and-white thinking around food, body, and exercise, so that they can live more balanced and colorful lives. Nicole’s knack for goal setting shows in her counseling, as she helps to empower others to shift their rigid mindsets around food, body, and movement in order to embrace a balanced life BEYOND just food. Nicole is passionate about working with individuals who struggle with disordered eating, such as with orthorexia, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia. Nicole also has a passion for helping athletes, as she was a captain of her Division I softball team. Outside of dietetics, Nicole loves CrossFit, being outdoors, spending time with her friends, family, and puppy, Lily, going to concerts, and trying new recipes with her husband, Andrew!

Nicole is the founder of Expedition Nutrition, her holistic nutrition coaching private practice. She understands that your relationship with food, exercise, and your body are their own journeys in and of themselves. “Expedition Nutrition” captures the idea that everyone’s nutrition experience is a unique and dynamic journey, and should NOT abide by a “one size fits all” framework. While only YOU truly know your experiences and goals, you shouldn’t have to navigate them alone. Nicole’s passion is to meet you wherever you are in your nutrition journey and to help you form an unshakable path so that you don’t lose yourself in the highs and lows of life. Food Freedom Reroot is Nicole’s primary program, a 12-week, 1:1 nutrition coaching program, in which she meets once each week with each of her clients so that they can take control of, and feel even stronger in, their lives beyond food. Nicole is also an independent contractor for B Balanced Counseling & Wellness, located in Winston-Salem, NC. Nicole is the only RD on staff at B Balanced, where she has expanded her reach and works more specifically with individuals who might be actively struggling with eating disorders.
