EDRD Pro Members:
Group Guidelines

We have a wide range of individuals here, from students to highly seasoned professionals. All are welcome, and it’s okay to make mistakes. It’s up to each of us to help create a brave and welcoming learning environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. We welcome vulnerability, questions, doubts, different opinions and perspectives, challenges and victories – but please share and respond courteously.

We love to support our members and their programs! If you have a service or program that you would like help promoting, please email us at [email protected] to determine if it’s a good fit to share inside this closed members group, or if we can help promote your work elsewhere (such as on our public-facing social media platforms). Please do not promote your business, coaching programs, book, etc. without first connecting with the group admins.

Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group stays in the group.

Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, ability, body size, weight, or identity will not be tolerated.

In the world today, bodies are political. Issues that impact eating disorder treatment, prevention, and research are political. Therefore, this space is for discussing social and political current and past events particularly, but not limited to, as related to bodies and healthcare. EDRD Pro holds firm in the belief that no body is free until all bodies are free from oppression. We approach eating disorder care from a Health at Every Size® approach, which includes an emphasis on social justice. We do not expect all our members to agree on everything, but we thank you for staying here with an open mind for discussion and a heart for allyship.

From time to time, there may be a desire to “warn” other group members about an individual treatment provider whose work feels potentially harmful. In this situation, you may post in this group that you have a concern about someone in your local area. Then, if anyone would like to contact you privately and directly to learn more, they may do so. We feel there is a time and place to connect with each other if you see harm being

done, but that publicly announcing another person’s potential problems or mistakes is not the most ethical way to express concern. If you have the bandwidth, we encourage you to consider contacting that individual directly to express your concern and offer them an opportunity for learning and growth.

You may post about your clients’ accounts at treatment programs and centers. We feel it is important to share positive experiences, as well as address potentially problematic or harmful practices at treatment centers, without using names of individual providers. Concerns and questions can then be brought to those organizations for discussion, feedback, and more information as needed.
