Alana Walling, MS, RD/LDN (she/her) Bio:
Alana Walling (she/her) has spent the better part of the last decade dedicated to helping clients with eating disorders. She completed her undergraduate studies in Nutrition and Dietetics at Louisiana Tech University, where she was a division I athlete. During her dietetic internship at Bradley University, she channeled her passion for working with eating disorders by creating and disseminating an original research study focused on negating lower BMIs’ association with eating disorder behaviors. She obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Alabama. Alana has experience working in various mental health treatment environments including eating disorder treatment at PHP, IOP, outpatient levels of care, and facilitating family programming for adults and adolescents. She has expertise working at various levels of care in substance abuse and mental health treatment centers, aiding programs in recognizing and treating eating disorders in clients navigating sobriety and co-occurring disorders. Beyond the mental health realm, Alana is dedicated to developing future dietetics professionals who are size inclusive and affirming. Her work at Keiser University as an adjunct nutrition professor included teaching coursework in nutrition research, community nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy for chronic disease management through a size inclusive lens.
Alana works with clients across the spectrum of eating disorders in her own practice at AS I Am Nutrition. She possesses a deep passion for helping Black and Brown clients dismantle ideas and beliefs established through a lens of white supremacy, inclusive of body size expectations, healthism, redefining recovery, and managing PCOS and ADHD/ADD. She also focuses on guiding clients through deep body image work. Alana combines her knowledge of clinical best practices for nutrition therapy with compliments of CBT, DBT, ACT and FBT to aid her clients in better understanding the dynamics of food and body connected to self.
