Conducting a Meal Support for Eating Disorder Treatment

March 26, 2026 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

This webinar will explore specific practices, tools, and skills for facilitating an effective and affirming meal support at multiple levels of eating disorder treatment. Participants will learn how to structure both individual and group meal supports, differences in providing virtual versus in-person meal supports, and approaches for supporting clients during meals. The webinar also discusses examples of common issues that may arise during meal supports and strategies for handling them.

Learning Objectives:

Following this presentation, participants will:

  1. Explain key differences in facilitating a meal support based on the level of care and whether the meal support is virtual or in-person.
  2. List at least three ways to effectively support a client when they are struggling during a meal support session.
  3. Describe best practices for structuring a meal support session based on the needs of the client(s).

Level B: Skills and Application

At this level, learners move beyond theory to actively apply knowledge in practical settings. Emphasis is on developing proficiency, problem-solving, and hands-on skills that can be implemented in real-world scenarios. Ideal for practitioners looking to strengthen their capabilities.

Quinn started working in the eating disorder field 5 years ago as a registered dietitian at the PHP, IOP, and outpatient level, before transitioning to her role as Outpatient Services Supervisor. They now work full-time at their own private practice, Practice Eros Nutrition, primarily focusing on working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folx after seeing a need for more affirming treatment spaces run by clinicians with lived experience. Quinn is passionate about breaking out of the cookie-cutter ED treatment model and bringing social justice into ED recovery. They believe in the power of community care, emphasizing lived experience in support spaces, and increasing access to anti-carceral eating disorder treatment.
