Mastering Body Image Conversations: How to Start, Guide, and Grow Body Image Work with All Clients

November 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PST

Body image work is often the hot potato and elephant in the room. It is important that eating disorder providers feel confident in the conversation to help clients explore and get unstuck. We don’t need to be perfect. We need to be aware, informed, and safe. This webinar will provide guidance on how to assess and stay in your scope/comfort zone to make the most impact and practice from a harm reduction approach. We will explore important pillars to practicing safe, effective, individualized support as well as beginning tools and where to get started. Our time together will support both new and seasoned clinicians in building confidence in engaging in body image work with their clients.

Learning Objectives:

Following this presentation, participants will:

  1. Understand how to initiate and guide sensitive body image conversations with diverse clients, building a safe and supportive space to foster open dialogue and trust.
  2. Gain hands-on experience with a variety of therapeutic activities designed to safely explore and address body image issues, tailoring each approach to suit individual client needs and readiness.
  3. Learn to support clients in developing self-compassion, body understanding, and a positive body narrative, progressing them toward a place of acceptance, healing, and resilience in their relationship with their bodies.
