This webinar will cut through the hype and address what new research really says about food addiction. Evelyn Tribole, MS, RDN, one of the original Intuitive Eating pioneers and co-author of Intuitive Eating, unpacks critical new evidence challenging the food addiction model and spotlights problems with the Yale Food Addiction Scale. Learn how restriction, hunger, and emotional distress—not specific foods— drive loss-of-control eating. Clinicians will leave equipped to interpret new research and guide clients toward trust and a peaceful relationship with eating.
Learning Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will:
- Identify 3 confounders not controlled for in the Yale Food Addiction Scale.
- Describe 2 reasons that people with anorexia nervosa score high on the Yale Food Addiction Scale.
- List 3 reasons people may engage in loss-of-control eating.
- Define the Jangle Fallacy.
