Description

Hi, I’m Carrie (she/her). I’m a registered dietitian, nutrition therapist and body image counselor who helps adults of all ages, genders, shapes and sizes heal from chronic dieting, disordered eating, eating disorders and body dissatisfaction.

At Nutrition By Carrie, I offer a compassionate, empathetic, supportive space for you to start exploring conflicted feelings about food and body image. My approach is non-diet, weight-inclusive, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed. My work with clients incorporates Intuitive Eating, mindfulness, self-compassion and body acceptance. It’s based on a holistic view of health that considers both mind and body when addressing your food, eating and body image concerns.

My Practice and Approach

I believe that all bodies are worthy of care and respect, just as they are. As a certified Intuitive Eating counselor and a licensed Be Body Positive facilitator, I aim to help you feel more confident and empowered as you break free of food and body obsession and oppression. I’ll collaborate with you to develop an individualized plan for nourishing yourself with food and self-care while reducing distressing eating and body checking/avoidance behaviors.

Eating disorders thrive in secrecy and are fed by shame, which is why I offer a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment for you to share and gently explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors related to your food and body concerns so you can heal.

My work with clients incorporates Intuitive Eating, mindfulness, self-compassion and body acceptance. I also incorporate skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It’s based on a holistic view of health that considers both mind and body when addressing food, eating and body image.

How to Work With Me

Specific eating disorders I treat include orthorexia, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID and EDNOS. (ENDOS includes “atypical” anorexia, which is anything but atypical!) I have experience working with clients who are neurodivergent and/or have co-occurring mental health concerns.

All sessions are virtual (video or phone). I accept Regence, BCBS, First Choice Health and Providence Health Plan of Oregon as well as self-payment, with some sliding-scale spots available. If I don’t take your insurance, I can provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier. Schedule your free 20-minute Discovery Call to see how I can help you, and if we’re a good fit. I look forward to meeting you!
