Marissa Johnson
Hello! I’m Marissa, a self-proclaimed foodie and plant lover. I am someone who has always loved cooking, eating, and planting food! Truthfully, I am very fascinated by the unique relationship that we each have with food. My mantra is that food is meant to be enjoyed; it can represent culture, traditions, be the cornerstone of good memories, and it can taste amazing too!
My approach is grounded in Health at Every Size® (HAES), Intuitive Eating, weight-neutral, and non-diet nutrition. This means that I am passionate about cultivating a safe space to help you heal or strengthen your relationship with food and your body while also challenging diet culture norms. I believe that all bodies are good bodies that are worthy of unbiased, equal, and respectful care. I also believe that you are in charge of your own journey; I am simply here to lead you with compassion and kindness and to provide the necessary tools to help you become the best version of yourself.
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Simmons University in Boston, MA. I continued my education at Simmons University by completing my Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion and a 1200-hour supervised dietetic internship with an eating disorder concentration. I have over 500 hours of specialized education, training, and supervision in the treatment of eating disorders and I am passionate about helping those struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, chronic dieting (Yo-Yo dieting), and general food or body image issues.
In my free time, I love to read (fantasy & sci-fi), garden, experiment with new recipes, and shop at Trader Joe’s for all the new and seasonal items! My favorite season is fall because of the beautiful New England foliage, hiking, and, of course, the Trader Joe’s butternut squash mac & cheese!
