Gender Expansive Nutrition
Hello! I'm Taylor (he/him & they/them). I have been a registered dietitian since 2016 and have been working in different levels of eating disorder (ED) care since then. I have lived experience and clinical experience in most of the areas I specialize. I am transgender, queer, neurodivergent, have chronic illness, disability, and am in long-term recovery from my own eating disorders.
I created Gender Expansive Nutrition (GEN) to be a space to explore healing for trans and gender-expansive individuals from a place of agency, autonomy, and authenticity. Intersectionality is a core value in understanding the context behind what healing means and looks like uniquely to each person. Food, nutrition, body image, and dysphoria (and euphoria) are only some of the bands on the metaphorical rubber band ball to be untangled.
I also aimed to create GEN for neurodivergent individuals as a space to come just as you are. Masking can be both protective and traumatic, and GEN strives to be a space to explore the beautiful connections between nutrition, eating, authenticity, neurodivergence, and the recovery process in a way that works to embrace neurodivergence rather than attempting to force assimilation to neuronormative standards that can often perpetuate eating disorders and cause harm and trauma.
In addition to the above specializations, I have experience and education with and enjoy working with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, Dercum's disease, and many other chronic illnesses.
I strive to work from a social justice stance. I believe in developing a strong therapeutic alliance with each client to work alongside them to find their own sustainable solutions for lasting recovery. I do my best to provide a safe and judgement-free space for clients to explore nutrition; body image; gender identity; gender dysphoria, euphoria and all the in-betweens; neurodivergence; and disability in the context of recovery and work towards finding inner peace with food, nutrition, and body. I am located in Colorado, however, am able to see clients located in many other states.
Lastly, I LOVE providing supervision, consultation, education, speaking/events, and anything else to educate clinicians, providers, educators, and the public on these areas I'm so passionate about! I would love to connect! Please feel free to reach out!
