Megan Freundlich, MPH, RDN

Description

Megan Freundlich received her degree in Food and Nutrition from Appalachian State University and completed her Dietetic Internship at North Carolina Central University with an emphasis on medical nutrition therapy. She is a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Megan also completed her Master's in Public Health at New York University. She believes that behavior change requires a multi-prong approach, collaborative treatment team, and understanding of systemic and environmental challenges. She strives to see her clients as the whole person, considering the mental, physical, and social factors of their dietary history and treatment.

Megan has 7 years of experience in the dietetic and nutrition field. She has experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. Her experience includes providing nutrition care to prenatal and postpartum women and infants and young children with feeding difficulties through the Women, Infants, and Children Federal Program in Raleigh, NC. Megan served as a Nutrition Consultant for Durham County’s SNAP-Ed Program, which provided direct nutrition education to elementary school-aged children, school nutrition policy development, and federal nutrition and health research. Through Durham County, she was able to assist public school principals in developing a nutrition curriculum with food exposures for their special needs classrooms, in conjunction with direct nutrition counseling and education to the parents of autistic children. Over the last 3 years, Megan has worked as Lead Dietitian and, most recently, Program Director for Center for Discovery’s residential eating disorder facility for women in the Bay Area.

Megan follows the tenants of intuitive eating in her nutrition care and incorporates evidence-based treatment techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and exposure and response prevention therapy. She is a Health At Every Size (HAES) practitioner and seeks to help her clients rebuild their relationship with food and find self-compassion in their "body story". She strives to meet her clients where they are at in their self-care journey and collaborate together on their dietary and treatment goals.
