Beyond the Reference Range: Interpreting Laboratory Results in Eating Disorder Care
February 11, 2027 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PST

| Laboratory results are one part of the clinical picture in eating disorder care, but translating them into meaningful next steps can be challenging. This intermediate-level webinar will explore laboratory assessment and monitoring in people with eating disorders, with attention to the significance and limitations of both normal and abnormal findings. Through two case discussions, participants will integrate laboratory trends, nutritional intake, eating disorder behaviors, and clinical presentation to inform nutrition care, communication with medical providers, and decisions about further evaluation or a higher level of care. |
Learning Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to:
-
Identify commonly indicated laboratory tests in eating disorder assessment and monitoring and explain their clinical purpose.
-
Interpret normal and abnormal laboratory findings in the context of nutritional intake, eating disorder behaviors, symptoms, and trends over time.
-
Recognize findings that warrant timely medical evaluation or assessment for a higher level of care.
-
Apply case-based clinical reasoning to inform nutrition interventions and interdisciplinary discussions about medical management and supplementation, within a professional scope of practice.
