Ready Before You Feel Ready: Growing a Career That Fits

October 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am PDT

Many dietitians struggle with feeling “not expert enough” while quietly wanting more from their careers. This webinar challenges perfectionism and imposter thinking, offering practical strategies to build confidence, take aligned risks, and define success on your own terms. Attendees will leave with renewed clarity, actionable mindset tools, and a roadmap toward a career that feels sustainable and deeply fulfilling.

Learning Objectives:

Following this presentation, participants will:

  1. Differentiate between externally driven definitions of success and values-aligned professional ambition.
  2. Identify aspects of their current work that energize versus deplete them using a structured reflection tool.
  3. Reframe imposter narratives and perfectionism using practical mindset strategies.
  4. Develop one actionable step toward building a more aligned and sustainable career path.

Level B: Skills and Application

At this level, learners move beyond theory to actively apply knowledge in practical settings. Emphasis is on developing proficiency, problem-solving, and hands-on skills that can be implemented in real-world scenarios. Ideal for practitioners looking to strengthen their capabilities.

Annyck Besso, MSc., RDN Bio:

Annyck Besso, RD, is a registered dietitian and entrepreneur who has spent the past decade working with individuals experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating. She is the founder and clinical director of Sööma, a multidisciplinary private practice serving clients across Montreal, Canada (sooma.ca) and Fueling for Recovery, a virtual practice in the United States (fuelingforrecovery.com). Since launching Sööma, Annyck has grown the practice into a collaborative team of registered dietitians and psychologists specializing in the care of athletes, adolescents, and adults navigating eating disorders and under-fueling.
Originally from Montreal, Annyck began her career at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute on the pediatric eating disorder inpatient unit after completing her master’s degree. She later expanded her clinical experience in private practice in Washington, DC, where she deepened her commitment to trauma-informed, evidence-based care. Drawing from this foundation, she built Sööma with a vision of inclusive, client-centered, and values-driven treatment — integrating strong clinical work with sustainable, ethical business practices. As both clinician and business owner, Annyck is passionate about redefining what ambition can look like in helping professions. She values curiosity, collaboration, and long-term relationship building — not only with clients, but within her team and professional community. She actively mentors and supervises dietitians across Canada and the United States, supporting them in developing therapeutic skills, navigating complex cases, and building careers that feel aligned and sustainable.
Throughout her career, Annyck has received specialty training in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Based Treatment (FBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which inform her nutrition interventions. Her clinical work often includes severe and enduring anorexia, adolescents and families participating in Family Based Treatment, and athletes whose performance is impacted by disordered eating. She practices from a harm reduction and trauma-informed lens, honoring each individual’s autonomy and readiness for change.
Committed to advancing education in eating disorder care, Annyck is a McGill Affiliate Member and guest lecturer, contributing to the training of future dietitians. She has also presented through EDRDPro and other professional platforms, helping dietitians integrate therapeutic approaches into their nutrition counseling with confidence and depth. Beyond any specific intervention, Annyck believes in seeing beyond diagnosis — understanding how an eating disorder once served a protective role and supporting clients in building new ways of coping that align with their values and goals.
