Size-Inclusive Advocacy for RDs and Clinicians

The purpose of this webinar is to inform dietitians and clinicians of pathways to advocacy for size-inclusive policy change on both micro and macro levels. We will discuss why RDs are well-suited for advocacy, help to build their story, and identify areas for change within their realm.

Learning Objectives:

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand how they can use their work and story to advocate for size-inclusive policies.
  2. Identify particular political or workplace policies that can be harmful to people in large bodies.
  3. Learn how policy can impact eating disorders and weight stigma.

Level A: Foundational Knowledge

This level introduces core concepts, terminology, and basic principles. Participants gain a solid understanding of essential information needed to build competence in the subject area. Ideal for newcomers or those seeking a structured overview.

Alyssa Greene Bio:

Alyssa Greene (she/hers) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota since 2016, having specialized in eating disorders. After navigating the numerous gaps and inequities in the healthcare system, she moved into the political, advocacy, and government realm. Since then, she has worked on Senator Tina Smith’s 2020 Senate race, has been the c4 Board Chair for Pro-Choice MN, and was Chair of the Minneapolis Commission on Civil Rights. Currently, she is the Mental Health Systems Coordinator for the Children & Youth with Special Health Needs and Disabilities section at the Minnesota Department of Health. What drives her most throughout all her roles in the community is creating health equity, bodily autonomy, and trauma-responsive care in the healthcare and public health system. Outside of work, Alyssa loves traveling, reading, and her husky, Malo Monster.
